About Alternations Solitaire

Alternations Solitaire deals two decks into seven columns with a mixture of face-up and face-down cards. Build descending runs without suit or colour restrictions, uncover hidden cards and use empty columns to reorganise the table. With only one pass through the stock, each draw is an opportunity worth considering.

How to play

Your goal is to move all 104 cards from two standard decks to eight foundations. Build each foundation upward in the same suit, starting with an Ace and ending with a King. Seven tableau columns receive seven cards each, with a mixture of face-up and face-down cards; the remaining 55 cards form the stock.

Build tableau columns downward by one rank, regardless of suit or colour. For example, a red 6 can go on either a red or black 7. Despite the game’s name, tableau moves do not require alternating colours. Move an exposed face-up card or a valid descending face-up group to another column. Any card or valid group can fill an empty column.

Uncover hidden cards as you rearrange the columns. Tap the stock to turn one card onto the waste; only the top waste card is available to move to a column or foundation. You get one pass through the stock, with no redeal, so check every new waste card before drawing again.

Move cards to the foundations when their suit and rank fit. Foundation cards cannot be moved back to the tableau. Use Undo to reconsider a move, Rules to review the game, or New deal to start again. Clear the tableau, waste and stock to win.
